I’ve decided to apply some area weighting to my sea level estimate based on my new method.
I’ve just begun, and so far I have defined two regions: the east and west coasts of North America. Only when I’ve done all the regional estimates for the entire world, will I combine those to form a global estimate. I’m not sure when I’ll get done, but I’ll keep readers in the loop.
I’m not sure how I want to divide the global distribution into regions; the first two are examples of one possibility, I may change my mind. I’m open to suggestion.
For the moment, here’s what I’ve found regionally. For the North Amerian east coast:
The sea level regional reconstruction is:
The rate of sea level rise/fall is:
For the North America west coast:
The sea level regional reconstruction is:
The rate of sea level rise/fall is:
I will eventually post the output data, when I finally figure out how to get WordPress to allow me to post a plain old ordinary text file without preventing it for “security reasons.” That’s when I’ll also re-post the code for my R alignment program so the indentation won’t be left out (which will make it so much easier to read).
Thanks to James Java, Jim Kelly, and Colin Letham for donations to the blog! I can use the help right now, so if you’ve ever thought about donating to the blog this would be a great time to follow the donation link below.

I guess you could share any type of file by zipping it and posting it to a file-sharing site, and then put a link into your blog.
I’ve been toying with the idea of kriging to a grid box that extends about 2000km off the US Atlantic coast. This could then be compared to the satellite data for the same grid. Repeat for the Pacific coast.
Though I doubt that the kriged values would be much different than using straight averages.
That’s the entire east coast of North America?
I beg to differ, eh! :-)
