The counter-factual is telling: if there had been a series of errors in the analysis of another important data set the likes of which Christy and Spencer have made, Cruz, Inhofe and their ilk would have been all over that like terriers on a rat. Instead, we are treated to the kind of upside-down reasoning of the Senate hearing. David Titley deserves our thanks for his steadiness in the face of crazy levels of cherry-picked belief confirmation. Kudos to all.

Indeed: look at the howling and ululating over purported “adjustments” that have – like a telephone game – turned into “NASA cooks the books”.

I disagree, Tamino. I think this video is very cool.
Agreed! I’ve bookmarked this and Kevin Cowtan’s discussion over at SkS for the next time the satellite temperature discussion lights up.
The truth, the denial – nothing new under the sun. This very well made video can be very frustrating. Yet I believe that the people in the US are changing their minds. Perhaps, four years from now, Republican candidates will no longer talk such nonsense because their voters won’t accept it. Perhaps.
John & Roy may have got the sign wrong on their adjustments, famously, but you gotta admit their hair is pretty darn good. Much better than mine, anyway!
